Family Voices in Washington, along with the Family Voices leaders in Alaska, Idaho, and Oregon, are planning the first-ever parent organized Tri-Regional style meeting, to be held in Seattle in January 2001. They identified critical issues, established the need for the meeting, found funding, planned the agenda, and worked out the logistics for this family - professional undertaking. MCHB has been a crucial partner. The biggest health service problems that Family Voices leaders identify are the inconsistency in medical necessity decisions, and the serious lack of coordination among the federal, state and community resources meant to serve our children. Families and physicians also struggle with a lack of information of where to find the information they need to get necessary services.
